2014 White Rock Lake Photo Contest Announced
Picture yourself against the backdrop of Dallas’ favorite lake. Whether you’re going for a jog, watching birds amongst the people watchers or simply soaking in the Texas sun, the natural beauty of the area has got your undivided attention. And then, you see it!
You pull out your camera, snap a shot or two or three and have a memory for life. Now you’ve got to share it.
Enter the White Rock Lake Conservancy’s fourth annual White Rock Lake Photo Contest. Not only can you win a great prize but your art may be used in future promotions for the lake and city.
Open to all ages and skill levels, our friendly competition seeks to inspire pro to wanna-be photographers to capture striking images that depict wildlife, architecture, structures, landscapes, weather and more around the stunning waterway.
Let’s break down the divisions:
- Professional photographers whose income depends on photography
- Amateur photographers at least 19 years old and experienced photographers who do not receive a major part of their income from photography
- Photographers age 18 or younger
Images will be judged on originality, technical experience, composition, overall impact and artistic merit. All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter with only standard optimization — so don’t go crazy with filters and such! Save that for your personal Instagram account.
Let your creativity run free! But just in case you need a little inspiration to get started, here are a few ideas:
- Activates and events around White Rock Lake
- Plant life and flowers
- Natural landscape
You could also use 2013 Photo Contest Winners as your creative muse.
Remember to submit your application by Oct. 1, 2014. The winners in each category will be announced Nov. 1, 2014.
