why we’re members

“We are lucky to have White Rock Lake in our city and the White Rock Lake Conservancy plays a critical role raising much-needed dollars and providing countless volunteer hours to support improvements and major projects at the lake. We are happy to support the Conservancy in any way we can.”

Molly & Leon Banowetz
Former Board Member, Longtime Donors, and East Dallas Residents

“White Rock Lake has always been a part of my life, from training runs to watching the ducks with my kids to walks with my husband and dog. That is why I give my time and treasure to White Rock Lake Conservancy. Whatever the reason you use the lake, we all should give back to it to ensure that it remains a vibrant part of our community for years to come.”

“The City of Dallas Park Department does maintenance, picks up trash, mows but we need more at the lake. We need to repair the structures upkeep the lake for future generations. This is what the Conservancy does and I believe most people thinks the City does everything at the park, it’s just not possible and we all need to help. If everyone that came to the lake donated a dollar for every visit we wouldn’t need non-profits to support the Park Department’s maintenance and upkeep up the lake.”

“I became a member of the White Rock Lake Conservancy in 2018 after discovering the organization on Instagram. Everyone I've met through the Conservancy has been a genuine enthusiast of the park and a pleasure to get to know.  Over the years, I’ve been impressed by the variety and scale of the projects the group has tackled—and, even more importantly, completed. Their work continues, with current plans including the renovation of the Stone Tables Playground. If you appreciate White Rock Lake Park and want to be part of its ongoing improvement, the Conservancy is an excellent group to join and support with your resources.”

I started running and cycling at White Rock Lake in 1978….During these 47 years there have significant improvements in the park. After learning that the White Rock Conservancy was very involved in so many of these projects I decided to join this outstanding organization. As years go on it is my sincere hope that people will enjoy White Rock Park as I havE.

“This project represents a worthwhile investment in the well-being and development of our children. We at Dallas Academy are excited about the profound positive impact this playground will have on the lives of children with learning differences and the broader community. Our students can’t wait to play at the Stone Tables playground!”
