WRLC Supports Dallas Police

A White Rock couple, in partnership with the White Rock Lake Conservancy, recently donated a fleet of eight bicycles and riding gear to the Dallas Police Department’s Bicycle Unit. The presentation took place on Friday, November 1, at the Mockingbird Pedestrian Bridge overlooking White Rock Lake.

A GIFT INSPIRED BY A LIFELONG LOVE FOR THE LAKE

The donation was made in memory of Tucker Burns, a longtime Dallas resident who lived at CC Young retirement community and found great joy in visiting White Rock Lake. Her family shared that spending time by the lake was one of her favorite pastimes, offering her peace, connection, and a sense of belonging.

During her many visits, Mrs. Burns developed friendships with officers from the Dallas Police Bicycle Unit, who regularly patrolled the lake area. Her family saw the deep appreciation she had for their service and the safety they provided to the community.

A MEANINFUL PARTNERSHIP

To honor Mrs. Burns’ memory and her love for the lake, her family partnered with the White Rock Lake Conservancy to make this special contribution possible. The new fleet of bicycles and gear will help support patrol officers who ensure that White Rock Lake remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

“We are grateful for this couple’s generosity,” said Jesse Reyes of the Dallas Police Department’s East Patrol Bureau. “We not only strive to keep our citizens safe, but we also strive to form meaningful bonds and relationships and show the citizens that we are a part of the community.”

Through community partnerships and local generosity, the White Rock Lake Conservancy continues to enhance safety, preserve natural spaces, and strengthen connections between the people who love this Dallas landmark.
